This is a separate policy, required by Washington's My Health My Data Act and Nevada's SB 370, covering the one kind of information Larderlee collects that those laws treat as health data.
It is deliberately short. There is not much of it, we do very little with it, and you can delete it yourself at any time.
Larderlee is operated by JS Venture Labs LLC ("Larderlee"), 9528 Miramar Rd, Unit 6294, San Diego, CA 92126. Contact: support@larderlee.com.
One thing, and only if you choose to enter it:
Someone might avoid an ingredient because of an allergy, or because they dislike it, or for religious or ethical reasons. We do not ask which, and there is nowhere in Larderlee to tell us. We treat the list as health data regardless, because for some people it is.
We do not collect diagnoses, conditions, medications, symptoms, measurements, or anything from a health provider or a wearable. We do not infer a health condition from what you cook or buy, and we do not attempt to.
We used to let you set a personal carbohydrate target. We removed it. Every recipe shows its carbohydrate figure, which is information about food rather than about you, and that turned out to be the useful half.
Only from you, only when you type it in, in the dietary preferences screen, and only after you have given your consent as described in section 4.
We do not buy it, we do not receive it from anyone else, and we do not derive it from your other activity in the app.
One purpose: to filter what the app shows you. Recipes containing an avoided ingredient are hidden or flagged.
That is the entire use. It does not affect pricing, it is not used for advertising or analytics, and it does not go to any AI provider.
We ask for your consent separately, before anything is saved. The first time you add an ingredient to avoid, the app stops and shows you, in plain words, what the list is for, with a link to this policy and two choices: I consent or Not now. Nothing is saved unless you choose I consent. We record when you consented and to which version of this policy.
The app works without it. If you choose Not now, nothing health-related is saved, and every other part of Larderlee works exactly as before.
You can withdraw consent at any time, in the dietary preferences screen:
Withdrawing deletes the data and records that you withdrew. Nothing is saved again unless you consent again. Withdrawing does not affect anything we did before you withdrew.
We will ask for fresh consent before using it for any purpose not described here.
Nobody.
If you are part of a household, other members of that household may see the filtering effects in shared recipe lists.
Selling consumer health data requires your separate, signed authorization under Washington law. We do not ask for one, because we do not sell it.
Until you clear it, or until you delete your account — whichever comes first. Deleted data may remain in our nightly backups: on our own server with restricted access for up to 14 days, and in an encrypted off-site copy that the storage provider cannot read for up to 90 days. Both are rotated out after that and are used only to recover from a failure.
You may:
The fastest route is the app: clearing your dietary preferences deletes the data immediately. Otherwise email support@larderlee.com and we will respond within 45 days.
If we deny a request you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond within 45 days. If we deny the appeal, you may complain to the Washington Attorney General at atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.
Deleting it means the filter stops hiding anything. Nothing else in your account is affected, and every recipe still shows its full nutrition.
Larderlee is not a medical device and not a source of medical advice.
The filter matches ingredient names against a catalogue that is incomplete. It cannot know what a packaged product contains unless you scan its barcode, and it cannot know how something was prepared, substituted or cross-contaminated. A recipe passing your filter is not a statement that it is safe for you.
If something matters medically, check the packaging and speak to a qualified professional.
We may update this policy. If a change is material we will tell you before it takes effect, and we will ask for consent again if the change widens how the data is used.
